Rebecca Louisa Dicken Bridgers was born February 25, 1829 in Halifax County.  She was the daughter of L. B. Dicken.  She married John Luther Bridgers on April 17, 1847.  A few years later they purchased a home in Tarboro known as "The Grove".  The Bridgers lived at "The Grove" through the War Between the States.  They had two children, John Luther Bridgers, Jr. and Ruth Bridgers.  Rebecca died on October 30, 1865 at her home.  She is buried in Calvary Churchyard in Tarboro, North Carolina.

The Bridgers' Bible contains family information including information about births, marriages, and deaths of the Dicken and Bridgers families as well as that of their slaves.  The images included here have been altered in Adobe Photoshop to clarify the images and make them more easily read.

This bible, it's images, and the biographical information are the property of the Edgecombe County Cultural Arts Council and are presented here for use by the public in partnership with the Edgecombe County Memorial Library.
